Prayer: Life’s Limitless Reach

How God Designed Prayer to Change You and Your World

Prayer is one of the most talked about subjects in the religious world. But most of us have this “guilt” thing about prayer. We believe in prayer. Even non-Christians believe in prayer. The problem is, for the most part, Christians don’t pray! And the reason most do not pray is because we do not know why God wants us to. The prayer seminar gives biblical insight into why God asks us to pray, offers practical insights for the development of an effective life of prayer, and is designed to create a passion for a dynamic relationship with God. Topics covered in the seminar include the following:

The Dynamic
Living the Life, Loving the Rewards
Destined For The Throne
What On Earth Does God Have In Mind?
Armed and Dangerous
Weapons of Unlimited Power
You and God on Facebook
How to Listen to God
When Heaven is Silent
Why Some Prayers Are Not Answered
Keys to Answered Prayer
How To Pray For The Lost

Strategies for Overcoming Strongholds

This seminar is a biblically balanced approach that leads the participant on a journey to fulfill the apostle Paul’s admonition in Ephesians 4:27, when he wrote: And do not give the devil a foothold. It provides reasonable steps for discovering strongholds, points out three areas where strongholds are most likely to occur, offers strategies for defending against them, and gives practical steps toward freedom when a stronghold is present.

A Sure Foundation For Defeating Darkness – Psalm 91
This session will teach you what our resources are, and will equip you overcome the World, The Flesh, & The Devil. It includes an in-depth look at Psalm 91. If you take the message of this psalm into your heart, you will no longer be afraid of the spiritual darkness so prevalent in our culture. Here is your battle plan for being an overcomer!
Facing The Enemy
  1. A Spiritual Enemy – The Devil – Ezekiel 28: This session will include an in-depth look at Satan as he was originally created, and some key ways he is likely to attack us.
  2. An External Enemy – The World – Ephesians 4:27: This session will look at ways in which the enemy gets a foothold in our lives.
  3. An Internal Enemy – The Flesh – Romans 12:1-2 or Matthew 3:11: This session will teach you about the Spirit-filled life and how that leads to victorious living.
The Overflow Ministry – Luke 13:10-17
You can move from bondage to freedom.

Going Farther With Jesus Than You Ever Thought Possible

A practical, refreshing and potentially life-changing seminar designed to lead Christians into an exciting adventure with Jesus Christ. It is especially helpful for new converts, or for Christians who formerly attended churches where the life in the Spirit was not taught as a part of Bible study curriculum or from the pulpit; but even seasoned Christians will experience a heightened desire to move onward in the Christian walk.

The Divine Ambassador – John 16:7
For many, the Holy Spirit is the unknown member of the Trinity. There is woeful ignorance of Him and His wonderful role and ministry in our lives. Many are afraid of the Holy Spirit, and this is due to stories heard of fanaticism, and rampant emotionalism. Jesus was more filled with the Holy Spirit than any other person who ever walked the face of the earth, but He was wonderfully balanced and radiant. The Holy Spirit came to make us just like Jesus.
Hearts Aflame – Matthew 3:11
“Fire” is one of several elements used in Scripture to describe the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit. This session examines the three scientific elements of fire, and draws analogies from them to depict what the Spirit-filled life is like.
Power From On High – Acts 1:8
In our culture today, there are two approaches to finding strength for living a successful, meaningful existence. The first is the method of self-realization. It admonishes us, “Awaken your hidden resources; cultivate your inner powers.” But, since it begins with the self life, it has its limitations. The second approach is to receive it from another source. The power that Jesus talked about was not from “within” but from “on high”. It is not “attained” but “obtained”. It is not “developed” but “received.” It is not the result of our own efforts, but rather a gift. The Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual power.
Purity In The Deep Mind – Romans 12:1-2
The mind is the key to the person. In this session we look at some of the basic facts regarding the human mind, then examine the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit in renewing our mind to become a completely transformed person.
Hinds Feet – Psalm 18:33
We all know what it means to be at war with ourselves. The classic illustration in English literature is the story that Robert Lewis Stevenson told of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The apostle Paul knew all about this tug of war. In Romans 7:21 he writes: So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. The psalmist and the prophet said that God could make our feet like hinds feet and give our lives perfect coordination. This session will give an opportunity to learn about what causes the tug of war, and how to attain our hinds feet.
Keep Growing – Ephesians 5:18
There are two major fallacies concerning the Spirit-filled life. One is that it is a gradual process. The other is that it is “only” a crisis resulting in a fixed, or final condition of existence. In actuality, the Spirit-filled life is both a crisis and a process. In this session the process of continual renewal and growth are examined and steps for experiencing the abundant life are presented.

Life Menders offers this suggested format, but times and number of sessions are flexible:

Saturday   9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon; 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The Bible – Relic or Relevant

In the words of Douglas S. Winnail:

Is the Bible really the inspired word of God? Was it accurately preserved for thousands of years as a unique revelation from the Creator of the universe? Or is it just a collection of humanly devised myths and fables? Do we even have the right books in the Bible, or are important sources missing that would change our view of God, Jesus Christ and Christianity? Can we trust Scripture? Is the Bible vital and relevant today?

Discovering the truth about the Bible could prove to be one of the most important and exciting adventures you have ever embarked upon.

Beer-la-haroi – The God Who Sees Us
Based on Psalm 14:1 this session deals with evidences for the existence of God, the nature of God, and our responsibility to Him.
Beer-sheba – The Promises of God
For many, the Bible has become a lost book. Many individuals in recent years have said something like this to me: “I read the Bible, but I don’t get anything out of it.” Or, “I’ve quit reading it because it isn’t meaningful and doesn’t speak to me.”
  1. The Danger of Losing The Book
  2. Accuracy – Why You Can Believe The Bible
    1. Internal Evidence
    2. External Evidence
    3. Experiential Evidence
  3. Authenticity – How The Bible Was Formed
(And A Simple Guide to Make Bible Reading Come Alive)
Rehoboth – Being Fruitful – A Challenge To Live Out Our Faith

Taming the Apocalypse

No Fear, Just Fantastic

Today there is no shortage of books detailing a final apocalypse of a magnitude never imagined by previous generations. As Eugene Peterson has written:

One of the unintended and unhappy consequences of John’s Armageddon vision is that it has inflamed the imaginations of the biblically illiterate into consuming end-time fantasies, distracting them from the daily valor of dogged obedience, sacrificial love, and alert endurance. This is exactly what John did not intend, as even a cursory reading of his Revelation makes evident. When people are ignorant of the imagery of prophets and gospels, and untutored in the metaphorical language of war in the story of salvation, they are easy prey for entertaining predictions of an end-time holocaust at Mount Meggido in Israel, conjured up from newspaper clippings on international politics.

This nine-hour seminar is a sane and thrilling unveiling of the truths of the Book of Revelation that will give people hope, calm their fears, and give them a wonderful panorama of God’s grand design throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Jude.

Life Menders offers this seminar in the following format:

Friday – Sunday
Friday   7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturday   9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon; 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
